Hi there, my name is Aaron Katcher and I teach guitar in Shorewood Hills on the west side of Madison, WI. Thanks for visiting, and make sure to check out the “Contact Me” page if you are interested in lessons.
About Me
I was self-taught on the guitar from age 12-20, learning skills mostly by ear off of recordings of my favorite guitar players, and the occasional book, or tip from a friend. While attending the UW-Madison, I studied classical guitar under Professor Caulderon, graduating with a BA in Music Performance in 2000. During college I began giving lessons at the UW and privately. After graduating I continued to teach full-time at various music establishments. During this time I also studied jazz and was gigging with multiple bands playing all types of music including rock, country, jazz, and R&B.
In my 15-plus years teaching, I have taught hundreds of students, ranging in age from 7 years old to 70 years young, of all skill levels. Whether its teaching a young student about the basics of music and the guitar, preparing a high school graduate for a college audition, or reviving an student’s lost passion, I provide a balanced lesson plan. By creating customized lessons, I am able to coach a student through just the right amount of method books, theory, rhythm, composition, improvisation, and listening. I am a patient and mindful instructor, and I value the unique nature of music, and what it can bring as an enhancement to learning and life.
